Spiced rum is a spirit category where regular rum gets an additional step of a production process. Herbs, spices and other flavouring components are added to rum which gives an extra layer of flavours and aromas. The Colonist Spiced Black is distilled in Caribean and after that is mixed with local spices.

This is a white rum (with a slight shade of yellow to it) that is aged up to six years, then charcoal filtered to strip the color out. As delicate and delightful a white rum as you’re likely to find, the rum starts off with a heady amount of alcohol, masking sweet notes of coconut and a hint of lemon. The palate is on the sweet side (but not overly so), dosed with coconut, pineapple, and a kick of licorice on the back end. This gives the otherwise fairly straightforward rum a bit of a spicy kick, with just a hint of lime peel lingering on the back end. A worthy choice as your new house white rum for making daiquiris and mojitos. 94 proof

Distilled from sugar cane, this very delicate rum is an excellent example of Caribbean flavour. Deep yellow in colour with a delicate and refined aroma, the rum has a long elegant finis with a complex blend of banana and vanilla.

Negrita Spiced Rum is described as being flavored with vanilla and "a hint of lemon," which suggests to us a more citrus styled drink very likely designed for dacquiri cocktails or perhaps mojitos. It is sourced from the Caribbean and then blended and bottled in France.
