Originally released for the Travel Retail market, The Elementa was crafted by Glenmorangie as a way of celebrating the art of wood finishing! As such, this 14 year old was initially matured in bourbon casks before being transferred to charred virgin oak for a finishing period. The result? A superbly honeyed, fruity, and gently spicy Highland single malt.

• Dual Cask Finish: The whisky is initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks, which imparts Glenmorangie’s classic smooth, fruity character.
• The Finishing Element: It is then transferred to new, heavily charred virgin oak casks for a final finishing period, extracting deeper wood sugars, spice, and structure.

• Nose: Rich aromas of nectarine, caramelised nuts, vanilla, clove, and spiced dark chocolate.
• Palate: Full-bodied and sweet, with distinct layers of runny honey, ginger-flecked dark chocolate, baked peaches, and warm baking spices.
• Finish: Moderately long and punchy, blending a mild oaky bitterness with a lingering sweetness of citrus zest and spiced fudge.

The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old to not just one, but two cask content-types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery!

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: Rich raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Finish: Warm oak spice with ginger, turning to sweet orange.
