The Whisky Maker's Cut expression from Glenrothes' Soleo Collection is completely matured in first-fill sherry seasoned casks, resulting in punchy notes of orange, cinnamon and dried fruit. The whole range is named after the process of sun-drying grapes in preparation for sherry production, hence the particularly heavy focus on sherry throughout the series.Tasting NotesOn the nose, orange oil and blackberry jam, with drying oak in the background. The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old to not just one, but two cask content-types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery!

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: Rich raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Finish: Warm oak spice with ginger, turning to sweet orange.
