Finished in 200-liter totara casks—a hard, straight-grained indigenous wood—the nose has toasted coconut, cinnamon bark, macaroons, fragrant floral notes, mint leaf, lemon hard candies, pear, peach, and light honey. Lemon, white chocolate, dried stone and tropical fruits, caramel, and toasted spices, with creaminess, malt, and milk chocolate breaking out in the end. Lightly structured on first sip, but it develops more body given time.

Finished in 200-liter totara casks—a hard, straight-grained indigenous wood—the nose has toasted coconut, cinnamon bark, macaroons, fragrant floral notes, mint leaf, lemon hard candies, pear, peach, and light honey. A litre bottle of the classic deluxe blend that has stood the test of time. Based on Glenkinchie with traces of other more northerly distilleries, Dimple benefits from an extended marrying period. Rich, smooth and complex.

The standard release of Highland Queen blended Scotch whisky, named after Mary Queen of Scots. Like much of the range, it offers very good value for money.

Nose: Some dark honey, caramel, allspice, cooked apples and pear drops.

Palate: Crisp apples now, nougat, more honey, subtle vanilla, perhaps even some tarragon.

Finish: Clean and quite short.

The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old to not just one, but two cask content-types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery!

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: Rich raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Finish: Warm oak spice with ginger, turning to sweet orange.

Country: Highland, Scotland ABV: 43%
