Cordon Negro Rosé’s bright, fruity personality envelops the senses in the glass with fresh raspberry and fruit cocktail aromas. The toasty palate mixes strawberry jam and red currant to deliver a pleasant mouth feel, wrapped up in a slow, light, sweet finish.The late harvested Garnacha grape, also known as Grenache in France, collects sun and warmth a month longer than most cava grapes, proffering abilities to build higher levels of sugars, translating to higher alcohol content. The indigenous and rare Trepat grapes, by contrast, are low altitude, low sugar grapes that ripen mid harvest, delivering lower alcohol levels upon fermentation. The combination of the two makes for a delightfully complex, nicely balanced blend with a rosy complexion. At harvest, the grapes are processed separately, then transferred to stainless steel tanks where proprietary yeasts from Freixenet’s own collection begin the first fermentation. After 10 to 12 days of interaction with the yeasts in perfect 59 to 63 degree atmosphere of the caves, the wines are racked, fined, filtered, and prepared for blending in traditional méthode champenoise, heralding the second fermentation.

The blush of Cordon Negro Rosé, and the well-balanced acidity are the direct results of the grape varieties and the careful méthode  champenoise process.

The Trepat grape is only planted over 1,000 acres, unique to the soil conditions and climate of the Penedes region of Catalonia, Spain. The wild, red fruit flavors are contributed by the mix of Trepat with Garnacha, which lends a spiced berry nuance to the wine.

Situated in the North-East of Spain, between Rioja and Bordeaux, lies the stunning Propiedad de Arinzano, a protected area rich in natural habitat. The Senorio de Arinzano estate has been recognized for the excellence of its vineyards since the 11th century, when the noble Sancho Fortunones de Arinzano first produced wines on the property.

Today, the magnificent estate, designed by renowned Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, provides the inspiration for a new brand identity for the Arinzano Estate. It stands out based on the uniqueness of the terroir, its history, art and environment, and the exceptional potential to give life to wines that would be a reference of the highest quality and singular character. The most advanced and careful techniques are used to guarantee an artisanal treatment through the whole winemaking process, and we pursue a viticulture that not only respects, but actually favors the natural environment.

As a result, Arinzano is one of the few estates in all of Spain to be recognized with Pago status, and the first Pago in the North of Spain.

Tasting Notes

Deep, garnet color. Intense aromas of black fruits. Predominantly mineral and dark red fruit notes –wood, China ink-, Stone and smoke hints. Ample power, pleasant and velvety in the mouth. Tasty and dense evolution. Very long persistence.

And do not worry if you are unfamiliar. “You will not have to attend tasting events to enjoy the blue wine, since its taste makes it so easy to appreciate,” say the makers. The wine is produced from Spanish grape varieties and then gets its deep electric color by the addition of anthyocyacin, a natural pigment extracted from the grape peel and the bacon, a natural pigment derived from the egg plant. The builders behind the new drink are six Spaniards. Everything has to do with modernity. “Gik’s consumption is not just about drinking blue wine,” says the ad.

TASTE :Crisp and fruity whites are dry, medium-dry or medium-sweet.

They are typically crisply acidic, which balances their rich fruitiness. You can discern yellow plum, apple and peach notes in these wines. Crisp acids create a fresh finish, making these wines ideal for a variety of foods.

TIPS FOR USE: These wines are an excellent match for savoury starters, pasta and fish and seafood dishes. Try with different kinds of tapas or antipasti, shrimp salad or sushi.

HOW TO SERVE: White wines are best served chilled, at 10–12°C. Chilling a bottle from room temperature to the perfect serving temperature takes about two hours in a fridge. The sweeter the wine, the cooler it can be served.

Marqués de Riscal made Rioja what it is today. Up until the 1850s the locals had made only light, young wines. Then, in 1858, Riscal introduced the ‘Bordeaux method’, barrel ageing. From that moment on, the practice became integral to Rioja. Today, Riscal Reserva is one of the most famous wines in Spain. Each grape is selected from vines that are at least 50 years old. Mature vines make the tastiest grapes. So the wine is incredibly rich and concentrated.

It’s full of summer-berry flavours and notes of liquorice and vanilla spice.
