Johnnie Walker A Song of Fire is a limited-edition blended Scotch whisky released in 2019 as part of a collaboration between Diageo and HBO to celebrate the final season of Game of Thrones. It is one of two themed blends, paired with “A Song of Ice”.

Flavor & Composition

Inspired by House Targaryen and its dragons, this blend is designed to be rich, spicy, and smoky.

Key Distillery: It features peated malt from the Caol Ila distillery on Islay, which provides its signature subtle smoke.
Aroma (Nose): Expect subtle smoke, warm toffee, orange peels, and hints of spice like cinnamon.
Palate (Taste): Full-bodied with notes of red fruit, vanilla, honey, and a “warm peated boost”.
Finish: A medium-to-long finish characterized by lingering smoke, spice, and sweet cereal notes.
ABV: 40.8%.

Design & Serve

Packaging: The bottle features a striking, deep-red design with the House Targaryen dragon. On the bottle, the iconic “Striding Man” is reversed to face the Striding Man on the “A Song of Ice” bottle when placed side-by-side.
How to Enjoy:
- Neat: Recommended for a warm, smooth finish.
- Highball: Served over cubed ice with chilled ginger beer, three dashes of orange bitters, and a garnish of ginger and star anise.

The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old to not just one, but two cask content-types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery!

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: Rich raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Finish: Warm oak spice with ginger, turning to sweet orange.
