The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Single Malt Whisky – 70 cl

The Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood is a benchmark Speyside single malt Scotch whisky renowned for pioneering the "wood finishing" process. Bottled at 40% ABV for the 700ml (70cl) international format, it is celebrated for its highly accessible, balanced, and honeyed flavor profile.

• First Maturation: Spends at least 12 years in traditional American oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, which soften the spirit and infuse foundational layers of vanilla and gentle oak spiciness. 
• Second Maturation (Finishing): Transferred to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional 9 months, adding rich layers of dried fruit, honeyed depths, and flavor complexity.
• Marrying: Finally, the liquid rests in large oak vessels called "tuns" for 3 to 4 months to allow the whiskies from individual casks to blend harmoniously before bottling.

• Nose: Prominent sweet malt and dark honey, complex notes of orchard fruits (apple tart), vanilla, nutmeg, and a touch of orange pith.
• Palate: Mellow and creamy. It balances a distinct nutty sweetness with bourbon-like caramel, cinnamon spice, and a delicately proportioned layer of dried sherry fruit.
• Finish: Long, warming, and slightly drying with lingering notes of oak, clove, and peppery spice

Nose: Honey and heather with thick caramel notes and a subtle nutmeg spice. Dried meadow flowers and a hint of fresh banana.

Palate: Smooth and succulent with a honeyed sweetness that's typical of Johnnie Walker. There's more to this though, the floral elements are quite prominent and there's a spiced sweet vanilla note too.

Finish: Long, sweet and toffee-like.

Overall: A typically easy drinking blend from Johnnie Walker, this will not disappoint fans of the style.

One of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. Famous Grouse is a very nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896, and would go on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
