Timorous Beastie Blended Malt – 70 cl

One of the best looking bottles around, this is part of Douglas Laing’s tremendous Regional Malts series. This is a blend of malts from the highland region. The name and packaging is a reference to the Robbie Burns’s poem “To A Mouse”, which hails that “timorous beastie”. Despite the name, this is a whisky of powerful flavour! Intense tropical fruits and soft Highland spices lead this whisky.

The palate is rich with honey and malt notes, accompanied by a dense chewy mouthfeel. This whisky is non-chill-filtered, free from any caramel colouring and bottled at 46.8% ABV. A delicious dram indeed! 

NOSE: Fresh and appley, with barley (malted and not), sweet butter and lemon. Some sour apple and sweet pear drop sneak in around the sides.

PALATE: Oily, with more butter and candied fruit. Some icing sugar and butter cream sweetness appear, with darkly sweet raisins and soft brown sugar.

FINISH: Gentle spice, a pinch of orchard fruit and some dark sugar notes.

Taste: Rich and fruity, Chivas bursts with the smooth taste of ripe, honeyed apples, and notes of vanilla, hazelnut and butterscotch.

Finish: Enjoy the generous, lingering finish.

Johnnie Walker XR was inspired by the hand-written blending notes of Sir Alexander Walker, the grandson of the legendary Johnnie Walker.

A luxurious blend from the exclusive reserve of aged casks, including that of the now quiet distillery of Brora. Aged for an extended period of 21 years this exceptional legacy blend is both warm and spicy to the palate with layers of complexity to suit the discerning whisky drinker.

Nose: Spiced apple, smoky oak and a little toasted brioche.

Palate: Herbal as it opens. This gives way to orange and lemon peels by the bucket-load, followed by another kick of smoky malt.

Finish: Wafts of Sherry-soaked raisins last and last.

Evan Williams Black Label is medium amber in color.

The nose: is light with deep vanilla and mint.

On tasting: there are notes of honey, brown sugar and caramel, with a medium to long finish!
