Glenmorangie 12 Year Old The Original is the newly reimagined flagship single malt from the historic Highland distillery, officially replacing the iconic 10-year-old expression. By extending the maturation to 12 years in first-fill ex-bourbon American oak casks, Glenmorangie has delivered an elevated profile with enhanced silkiness, deeper complexity, and richer sweetness.

• Brand / Distillery: Glenmorangie Distillery (Highlands, Scotland)
• Age Statement: 12 Years Old

• Alcohol by Volume (ABV): 40%
• Cask Type: Bourbon Cask.

• Aroma: Inviting and highly vibrant, dominated by citrus fruits, sweet honey, vanilla, peaches, and distinct notes of orange marmalade.
• Palate: Smooth, creamy, and noticeably thicker or more oil-textured than its 10-year predecessor. It opens with soft vanilla and honey, transitioning to mid-palate layers of orange peel, dried apricots, and delicate maltiness.
• Finish: Long, clean, and crisp with a lingering malty sweetness, light dark chocolate accents, green apple, and a soft hint of pepper and oak spice.

• Agave: Made from 100% Espadín agave grown in Oaxaca.
• Cooking: The agave piñas are split and slow-cooked for 4-6 days in earthen pits lined with volcanic rocks, which imparts the signature smoky flavor.
• Crushing: After cooling, the agave is crushed using a traditional horse-drawn stone tahona wheel.
• Fermentation & Distillation: The mixture ferments for 6-8 days before being double-distilled in copper pot stills.
• Proof: The final spirit is bottled at 80 proof (40% alcohol by volume).

• Aroma: The aroma is described by the producer as fragrant herbal and fruit, with hints of smoke. Reviewers note a prominent smokiness, sometimes described as medicinal or like gasoline.
• Flavor: The producer notes include hints of tamarind, pomegranate, banana, and mango, balanced with fresh mint, dried oregano, smoke, and black pepper.
