Havana Club 3 Year Old Rum – 5 cl

This Havana Club has been aged for three years in bourbon casks and then filtered, hence its colour. A classic rum and a key component of good, refreshing Daiquiri (or just about any rum cocktail), and it even won a gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2016.

Tasting Note:

The nose: is crisp and fresh with notes of marzipan, citrus, allspice, ground ginger, a little lime and gentle oak.

The palate: is clean and rounded with notes of citrus, vanilla and oak, a little spice and lemon and a delicate nutty note

Robert "Rosebud" Butt claims to have invented the Long Island Iced Tea as an entry in a contest to create a new mixed drink with triple sec. Could be right, could be wrong. What we know for sure is Beagans Long Island hits all the right spots in this retro-modern classic.

This is a dark rum (and a fairly dusky one at that. Aged up to eight years, it’s got some coffee, cinnamon, and cloves on the nose — along with some raisin notes. Quite savory on the tongue — those bitching about Exclusiva being too sweet can check this out — the coffee notes filter down to dusky charcoal, barrel char, some raisin, and a bit of dark chocolate. Sugar is almost an afterthought here. If you like your rum chewy and filtered through the dank haze of wood, this is your jam. For me though, it’s a bit one-note. 80 proof
