When you finally raise the glass, your taste buds become overwhelmed with a five-pronged attack of sweetness, grain, oak, char and fruit. The standard release of Highland Queen blended Scotch whisky, named after Mary Queen of Scots. Like much of the range, it offers very good value for money.

Nose: Some dark honey, caramel, allspice, cooked apples and pear drops.

Palate: Crisp apples now, nougat, more honey, subtle vanilla, perhaps even some tarragon.

Finish: Clean and quite short.

Swing features an elevated amount of Speyside malts, balanced by malts from the northern Highlands and Islay.
