The Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters (often officially labeled as Old Time Aromatic Bitters) is a premium, highly concentrated cocktail flavoring designed to add structure, complexity, and balance to mixed drinks. Launched in 2006 by Munich bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, it was one of the flagship products that helped ignite the modern cocktail bitters revival. Inspired by authentic 19th-century recipes, this German-crafted classic is widely favored for its deep spice profile and natural ingredients.

• The Nose: A rich and heady aroma dominated by intense clove and warm gingerbread, rounded out by subtle, sweet tutti-frutti notes.
• The Palate: Deeply complex and bitter with prominent baking spices, including cinnamon, cardamom, anise, and ginger, rooted by an earthy hint of gentian bark.
• Specifications: Bottled at 39% ABV (78 proof) and typically packaged in a distinctive 200 ml bottle styled after vintage 19th-century medicine bottles.
