The Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Marsala Cask Edition is a limited-release spirit from The Shed Distillery in County Leitrim, Ireland. Unlike many whiskeys that are merely "finished" in wine casks, this expression is uniquely matured for a full seven years exclusively in Sicilian Marsala casks.

• Spirit Type: Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (triple-distilled).

• Mash Bill: A combination of malted and unmalted Irish barley, along with Irish Barra oats, which provides a signature creamy mouthfeel.

• Aging: Fully matured since 2017 in Sicilian Marsala casks.

• ABV: 43%.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Fragrant aromas of honey, apricot, and florals, with spicy undertones of clove and cinnamon-spiced oranges.

• Palate: A "luscious" mouthfeel featuring flavors of honey-drizzled stone fruits, mango, papaya, and traditional pot still spices.

• Finish: Long and warming, with lingering notes of roasted hazelnuts, raisins, and spiced caramel.

The standard release of Highland Queen blended Scotch whisky, named after Mary Queen of Scots. Like much of the range, it offers very good value for money.

Nose: Some dark honey, caramel, allspice, cooked apples and pear drops.

Palate: Crisp apples now, nougat, more honey, subtle vanilla, perhaps even some tarragon.
