Glenfiddich 12 Year Old Triple Oak – 70 cl

A magnifique expression from Glenfiddich, this 12 year old single malt was originally released for retail in France, so you can practice your French by studying the label! Combining whiskies matured in a trio of American oak, European ex-sherry oak, and French virgin oak casks. The influence from each variety results in a splendidly complex character, brimming with an abundance of sweet spice, vanilla, and fruit. A great sipper for any occasion, perhaps one to crack out with a nice selection of French cheese.

Nose: Heaps of fruit with fresh pear, sugared plums, and zesty orange with wafts of sweet vanilla crème brûlée.

Palate: Creamy barley with more fresh orchard fruit, vanilla fudge, and delicate oak spice follow softly toasted almonds and hints of gingerbread.

Finish: Rich, sweet malt with yet more fresh, delicate fruit, vanilla cream, and woody spice.

Swing features an elevated amount of Speyside malts, balanced by malts from the northern Highlands and Islay. On the tongue it starts off a bit sweet and then the spicy notes take affect mid-palate which exposes the smoke and peat. It has a smooth lingering smoke and spice finish. The result is a luxurious flavor that's light in the foreground, with sweet mouth-watering depth developing on the palate.

The initial aroma is strong with citrus and a hint of whiskey. The palate again reveals lots of orange character, and a moderate amount of honey. Has a rich, bourbon finish that plays on the tongue and ends with a final touch of honey.
